Let That Fire Out of That Cage
When we met
You were a friend when I had few to none
You saw the fire and adventure in me
But as we grew and rode the rollercoaster of life
That flame that once filled you with possibilities
Scared you
So you tried to muffle it out
And I let you
Falling for the idea that I don’t owe anyone
Except for you
I became a lantern
Fire but trapped in the confines of a case
Is that even fire though?
You can train a wild animal all you want
But at the end of the day
That whale is going to break free
And set off a chain of events so that others may not have to be stuck swimming in circles
Tripping on Valium
Orca whales have never attacked humans in the wild
It has not been recorded
Our earth is fighting back
Demanding not asking to be let out of that tank
Let out of the lantern
When you think about the history of fire
It completely revolutionized technology
It brought light to the dark
It roasted food so nicely
It boiled water so that it wouldn’t give us diseases
Fire is power and fire is change
And we should respect it
And just like snakes and sharks and gators
We value what they bring to our ecosystem
And we realize that they are not to be feared
Well maybe a little bit w common sense
I am fire
I am change
And that might scare you
But even so, you can respect and admire my light from afar
I’m not what you wanted me to be
But I am to me
A force to be reckoned with
